chemist by profession, has distilled much of his research findings into (The
OZ Files). "In addition it provides us with an excellent, broad, sweeping

.... "The OZ Files" is a valuable addition to Australia's

- Keith Basterfield, UFOLOGIST, Jan/Mar 1997
"In a blow to the idea that flying saucers are an American
commodity, Bill Chalker presents an excellent portrayal
of the UFO situation in Australia. Chalker comes from a no-nonsense science background
and it shows in this conservative, well-grounded effort. Don't mistake conservative
for boring... there's some plenty-weird goings-on in the Outback. In one sense,
it is familiar stuff: saucer sightings, abductions, trace cases, strange crashes,
etc.
But that's part of what makes it so intriguing...
that similar phenomena (or delusions, if you prefer) are occurring in widely
scattered locations on our planet… Overall, a very comprehensive work on the
current UFO climate Down Under." - Glenn Campbell, UFOMind web site .
"Australia has a long and prolific UFO history, and Bill
Chalker has been one of the country's foremost Ufologist, uniquely qualified
to create this study of down-under UFO events." (Arcturus Book catalogue (USA)1996-8)
"Famous Australian UFO investigator Bill
Chalker offers a history of Down-Under UFO events from 1788 to today's
newspapers..." (Arcturus Book catalogue (USA) 1996-12)
Bill Chalker's UFO interests
developed as a young teenager in the mid sixties. He had a strong interest in
science and unexplained phenomena in general. January, 1966, saw his home town,
Grafton, become the focus of widely reported UFO activity. Many people, including
local police, reported sightings.
He recollects that there was a great deal
of excitement and interest locally. During 1969, the New South Wales north coast
region once again became the focus of intriguing UFO phenomena. There was a
rash of unusual ground effects in the area, the most prominent being a large
flattened saccaline crop site near Bungawalban found on April 17.
The talk was of flying saucers and that
this was a "saucer nest". The fact that the property involved was owned by the
local member of parliament ensured the affair leapt into national prominence.
Bill joined the curious throng.
